�Dua� means �to call� and �to invoke� and in the Islamic terminology, it means, �A humble prayer by a modest person to a superior.�

Thinking of Allah�s might and grandeur, feeling awe of Him and praying humbly and secretly is essential for supplication.

Allah informs us in the Quran;

�Remember Me- I will remember you. give thanks to Me and do not be ungrateful. You who have faith! Seek help in steadfastness and prayer. Allah is with the steadfast.
(Sura al Baqara: 152- 153).

�And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near;
I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he calls on Me, so they should answer My call and believe in Me that they may walk in the right way�
(Sura Al-Baqara, verse 186)

Supplication has been highlighted as an important aspect of Islamic worship, indeed, the Holy Prophet describes supplication in a hadith as �the core of worship�
